the eye's camera

This was the shot I missed just now, cabbing
camera-less through San Francisco's Tenderloin
district on the way to my hotel:

A long, lanky derelict man sucking on a rainbow
popsicle while seated against a brilliantly colored
street mural. The sun was shining and he wore
a scowl as he looked to one side.

I saw it, clear as day. Great job.

(You must have been sooo frustrated to be without your camera, but these lessons point out how important the EYE is to the shot, which you get every single dang time.)
