I think your policies in Iraq are reprehensible.Steven Howards of Lakewood, Colorado to Vice President Dick Cheney in Beavercreek from a distance of about two feet back in June, as reported in today’s New York Times.
Shortly thereafter Mr. Howards was arrested by the VP’s Secret Service men -- who said he “wasn’t acting like other folks in the area” -- and who stated that he was to be charged with assaulting Mr. Cheney.
Mr. Howards was released from jail three hours later on a $500 bond. Three weeks later the government dropped all charges. Mr. Howards has decided to sue the agent who arrested him for violating his right to free speech.
I read this yesterday, too -- sometimes I have to slap myself in the face to remember this isn't all a bad, bad, bad, bad dream.
