mrtn: the first big round of Norwegian immigrants that Cleng Peerson rounded up on the Restoration landed in Norway, IL. there's a little town called Stavanger just down the road, and my great great grandparents settled in Marseilles, which is just a little south of these two.
Cleng moved on to Texas where he started up a little town called Norge, and where he eventually died.
One last note of trivia: some sources claim that Norwegian immigrants are outnumbered in America by only the Irish. (Not surprisingly I'm a mashup of those two and the English.)
