Shot this shortly before ascending 140 vertical feet up to the Alcove House, higher than the Pinons, even.

It was shortly after that that we spotted the mating rattlesnakes. And then left them to their own devices. Although I'm sure there's an omen in there somewhere.

You know how rattlesnakes mate? Same as porcupines: very, very carefully.
