Mitchell Stephens, professor of journalism at NYU, commenting on the proliferation of grassroots generated imagery of significant world events in the context of the government crackdown in Myanmar on Internet and telecommunication connections that has effectively halted the transmission of imagery out of the country since Friday. As reported in the New York Times.

Aung Zaw, editor of the Irrawaddy, which was impacted by the crackdown (executed in some places as a "just in time" malicious virus) commented: "Finally they realized that [the Internet] was their biggest enemy, and they took it down."

October 4th is International Bloggers Day for Burma.
