IF you book your room way in advance at the Hotel de Cortes just across from the Alameda Central through Expedia WAY in advance of actually toddling on down to Mexico, be sure to call ahead to confirm your reservation -- so as not to be surprised, as we were, to find the hotel under wraps, undergoing restoration, without a room to be shared. Or a front desk, where they might explain the situation to travelers like us.

But if you´re lucky, as we were, you will have found yourself a taxi driver willing to take you all over the city to find a room somewhere -- anywhere -- and offer to put you up at his casa if we didn´t manage to find one after all.

But did. Finally. Two actually. Because no one had two nights in one spot.
