notflix

Netflix Inc. has launched Previews, a personalized section on its e-commerce site that enables subscribers to watch movie trailers.
From « Netflix raises the curtain on new feature » in today's Internet Retailer

CUT TO: Loyal Netflixer keystroking Ctrl+T; opening new tab; entering "netflix.com"; browsing to Previews.

Watch online reader's excitement rapidly deflate when she discovers that Netflix insists on spoonfeeding her trailers. One. After another. After another.

No trailer index. No trailer landing page. No trailer search. Just that infernal "Next" button -- that allows the advertisers to decide what I need to see.

And that part where I can browse to the movie and watch the preview from the page? Sorry guys: doesn't cut it. I still want that list of new movies I've never heard of before -- not movies I already know about.

So no thanks, Netflix: I'll get mine from Apple.com. They let me choose.
