Maples have undeniable grace, even in Chicago. Now if Chicago could invert its Maple/building ratio, they'd be all set. Maybe bonsai IS the answer. Actually, Japan's high population and the necessity of cultivating as much airable land as possible is believed to be one of the things that powered the art of bonsai. If we can't make the land bigger, we'll just make the trees smaller.
