I have never seen anything like it. Box after box after box are just empty. There’s nobody home.
Beekeeper David Bradshaw, commenting on the mysterious honeybee die-off in the US reported in Tuesday's New York Times.
Nobody's sure why in some parts of the U.S. up to two-thirds of the honeybees used commercially to pollinate crops are not returning to their hives.
Spells bad news for those of use who like to eat.

I read this the other day as well. It's eerie. Makes me think the bees are just too smart to stick around.
My thoughts exactly - it's a well planned escape.
